About Lazybones
"…..Invoking the spirit of Americana splashed with elements of roots-folk, bluegrass, and country, punctuated
by warm harmonies and acoustic guitars brimming with a joyous sense of old-time sentimentality.
An ode to the timeless nature of strong song-writing, Lazybones brims with intelligence and emotion,
coated with the quiet intensity of the heartland….."

In early 2007 Lazybones began simply as recording project for East Coasters Matt Wells and Tim MacNeill who had found a common desire to make music with no master plan. Matt had just closed the books on his 12 year journey with the notorious St. John’s band Bucket Truck and was nurturing his career as a music journalist and music television host. Tim had pressed pause on an award winning song writing and music career with Nova Scotia band Arlibido choosing to focus on a BA in International Development Studies and a Masters Degree in Development Economics with his sights set on a PHD (he is now doctah Tim). Fast forward to the present however and Lazybones is a recording project no more; with every new song came new recordings, which brought gigs as a duo which continued to grow and grow into a full on travelling hillbilly-reggae style kitchen party that has found it’s way onto stages with bands like Great Big Sea and The Trews. Armed with a debut album filled with guest such as Jill Barber and Huey Lewis, 3 music videos that have found life on CMT, MuchMusic and MuchMore, a surprise affair with Canadian country radio (Perfect Life) and a 7 piece band; Lazybones are all growed up. Matt and Tim’s little recording project has turned into a real band while along the way channelling the musical ghosts of bluegrass, reggae and old time country music……or something like that.
